The Atlantic Joule is the next US built AHT in fleet to be based in the US and to be managed and owned by a Atlantic Oceanic LLC.
After operating as a AHT-SV for many years the diesel electric Atlantic Joule has undergone a major refit and rebuild conversion to permit hybrid or diesel power operations, operating as a DP2 Multi Purpose Support Vessel. The vessel is capable of operating the I-GRAB in a number of tasks such as Boulder removal, UXO Survey and Clearance. It is also capable of Geotechnical and Geophysical surveys, Walk-to-Work, Cable Lay and recovery.

Diesel Electric main propulsion engines uses less fuel than conventional AHT drive systems as the vessel can be operated with only two engines in services for DP2 and other offshore operations when not in AHT towing service. Vessels designed to maintain a speed of up to 12 knots at loadline (fully loaded condition), with excellent economy at 10 knots and in DP2 operations
The Atlantic Joule has the latest state of the art DP II system which means that the vessel will be able to hold position in the most critical and demanding situations. Working with the twin bow tunnel andย stern tunnel thruster, along with the two CP main propellers the vessel has over 10,000 bhp on offer at any time. Ideal for subsea operations.
